The “ETH/PRIO Civil Conflict CeaseFire” (CF) dataset aims to capture all reported ceasefires in civil conflict worldwide between 1989 and 2021.

The CF dataset provides information on more than 2,200 ceasefires in 107 civil conflicts across 65 countries. This includes multilateral, bilateral, and unilateral agreements – ranging from informal verbal arrangements to detailed formal agreements.

The CF dataset lists the actors to which each ceasefire pertains, as well as the type, purpose, coverage, and end date of the ceasefire in question. In doing so, the dataset provides an empirical basis to assess the conditions that give rise to ceasefires, how ceasefires affect the dynamics of conflict, as well as the role that ceasefires play on the path to peace.
